Home > Blog: Life in the Novitiate > The Old Howardians Reunion

The autumn sun shone down on us at Laxton Hall, near Oundle, where the noviciate joined the Old Boys of Blackfriars School for Sunday Mass at their biennial reunion. The hymns included that composed by Old Howardian Leon Paul. Warmly welcomed by the resident chaplain and the sisters who run the Polish Benevolent Fund Home at Laxton, Mass was followed by coffee and cake in the library, and an opportunity to stroll around the lawns, before the party moved on to a hearty lunch at Apethorpe. Our especial thanks to Anthony and Vyvian Carter for organising the event. The school closed in 1967, but lives on in its Old Howardians, who treasure the memory teachers such as Fr Gerard Meath and Fr Gerald Vann. More photographs of our visit can be found on the Blackfriars Cambridge facebook page.
