Home > News > UPDATE ON FACE COVERINGS: MANDATORY FOR INDOOR WORSHIP FROM THIS SATURDAY 8TH AUGUST

Since confirmed Covid-19 cases have begun to rise again, the HM Government has made the wearing of face coverings compulsory for congregations worshipping in indoor public spaces, from this Saturday 8th August.

At Blackfriars, this means that face coverings must be worn at the following Masses:

Sunday 8.15 am

Monday to Friday 7.30 am

Saturday 9.30 am

The Sunday 9.15, 11 and 6 pm Masses continue to be celebrated outside in the garden.

HM Government defines a face covering as: “a face covering is something which safely covers the nose and mouth. You can buy reusable or single-use face coverings. You may also use a scarf, bandana, religious garment or hand-made cloth covering but these must securely fit round the side of the face”. To read the full document, please click here.

Please remove your face covering to receive Holy Communion and put it back on straight afterwards. The priest distributing Holy Communion will also be wearing a face covering.

Thank you very much for your cooperation in this matter. God bless you, be well!
