In last night’s lecture Prof. Kirkpatrick tackled a theme dear to the heart of his one-time teacher, Fr. Kenelm Foster OP – Dante’s understanding of Aquinas as a maker of careful distinctions. Close reading of passages from the Paradiso opened up the theological depths voiced in the poetic text.
