What a glorious day! And the sunshine was matched by the warmth of welcome we received from the people of the parish! We were celebrating Pentecost at Our Lady of Loreto and St Winefride’s, as part of St. Martin’s Mission,  seeking financial and spiritual support for the work of Dominicans in the Caribbean. My fellow Novice Br Joseph and I were there at the three Sunday Masses with our Novice Master, Richard Finn, while Brs Matthijs and Richard supported his appeal on the Saturday evening.

Fr Richard spoke of the slow recovery on Grenada and other islands after the devastation inflicted by Hurricane Ivan. Even though much of has been rebuilt (including our church and priory at St Paul’s), there is still much to be done.

So, a sincere and big thank you to the people of St Winefride’s Parish, who made us feel so welcome and have been so generous. Thanks also to Fr Tom, the Parish Priest, who was so hospitable and charitable to the Order of Preachers.
