Some eighty people joined us on Saturday June 20th for a special occasion at which the friars could thank their many friends and benefactors for all their support across the years. The day began with coffee and conversation in the garden and in the cloister, before Fr Richard Ounsworth OP gave a light-hearted but thought-provoking talk on ‘Jonah and the Weevil’! This was followed by a Mass of Thanksgiving in the chapel offered for all our benefactors living and dead. The morning concluded with a buffet lunch masterminded by Fr Benedict, assisted by a semi-disciplined cohort of friar sous-chefs. As the rain (long threatened) finally came down, we ended with a final burst of song from Frs Bruno and Benedict. We hope our guests enjoyed it as much as we did, and are already thinking of a similar event next year. You can see more of the photos from the day on our Blackfriars Cambridge facebook page.
