On this joyful occasion of the coronation of King Charles III, we continue to pray that God will guide and bless him. With the Cardinal Vincent Nichols blessing the King during the ceremony, we can see that things have come a long way for Catholics in England.

DOMINICAN WALSINGHAM PILGRIMAGE, 21 MAY

In two weeks’ time on Sunday 21st May, the Dominicans will be holding their annual pilgrimage to Walsingham. For further details, please see the poster in the cloister.

HOLY PREACHING

The Holy Preaching is back THIS WEDNESDAY 10th May at 7.30pm at the convent. This month’s talk will be ‘The Gift of Tears: The Blessedness of Mourning. All welcome.

JEAN GROVE TRUST

On Wednesday 17th May at 7.30 pm there will be a short talk for anyone interested in getting involved with the Blackfriars Ethiopia Project, also known as the Jean Grove Trust. Two of the Trustees who have visited the schools we support there will show some slides from their visits and talk about the difference the support of the Blackfriars congregation has made. Anyone who has donated to the Trust, or has thought of donating in the future, or who would like to be involved with the Trust in any capacity, is warmly invited to come along. The talk will be in the Old Library, it will take about half an hour, and there will be light refreshments and an opportunity to chat afterwards.

MARRIAGE CELEBRATION MASS

Bishop Peter invites all married couples in the Diocese to join him at the annual Marriage Celebration Mass on Saturday June 3rd at 11.30 at the Cathedral of St John the Baptist. All married couples and their families are welcome! Those couples who are celebrating significant anniversaries (one year, five years and every multiple of five years thereafter, or individual years from 60 years onwards) will receive a certificate from the Bishop.
